The piece showcases the iconic matte stoneware finish developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the late 18th century, decorated with a white bas-relief technique. The central motif portrays a classic scene often referred to as “Cupid as Oracle” or “Cupid Asleep,” surrounded by a detailed, raised gtapevine and leaf border pattern along the rim of the plate. These versatile small trays were historically designed to serve as pin dishes, butter pats, sweet dishes, or decorative coasters.
